Summer, 2013

Sometimes it takes a year to develop a roll of film. I'm not sure why, but a lot of the photos I took were out of focus. Could be something with the lens or maybe I was just taking shitty pictures with my glasses on. Most of the images are super grainy (love!) because I used 400spd Illford B+W. Here are some highlights from Summer of 2013:

I have no idea where this is. Friends, your thoughts?

Look at that bearded fellow...

Summer is Here!

July 4th brought in all the hot weather.

No more jackets after sunset!
All the grilling!
Drinking cold beers on the porch!
Sunlight from 5:30AM - 9PM!

Bring it, Portland.

hiking through a field of yellow flowers

This is a great picture to represent the end of a an epic summer for me. I can't explain it well; maybe it is because it is dusk and because the subject and dog are walking away from view, the fact that most of the image is out of focus, that the plants are browning, and a mess of personal reasons outside of the frame that you can't see.

Welcome, Fall.

My Favorite Beach

The California Coast may be windy (and sometimes chilly) but that doesn't stop me from going to my favorite beach, Panther. It has everything I could ever want from a beach - low traffic, secluded areas, caves, beautiful cliffs, scenery, and warm sand. I used the film rolls from the fisheye and plastic lens camera from my memorial day weekend toy camera extravaganza.

It was really hard keeping my eyes open in the bright sun!

Natasha being really cute and gathering shells from the sand.

I miss the beach already. :(

My Favorite from Summer

November2011_04

This is a mash of images from summer in Arcata, CA, and a meadow mushroom spore print. I'm a huge, huge fan of double exposure and am sort of embarrassed to admit I never really did them with 35mm until last summer. I shared the images in this post, but never shared a great detail of this image (I may do this with some others, too). I'm excited to make double exposures again, especially with the season time mash (Arcata images happened in Summer and the spore print in Fall).

It would be interesting to do, if I was patient enough, to shoot a whole roll now and then wait a few years and take double exposures over it. It would be a time mash, which could be pretty interesting.

What do you think? Any other mashing ideas?
