I thrifted a vivitar 24mm from Goodwill yesterday. My friend Dev shot with one something like 5 years ago when Walgreens still developed 110 film. Thing is, now the film isn't made anymore. I found expired film on EBay but I'm having a hard time finding a place to develop that doesn't require me to mail in film. I've mailed film before, but there are a lot of ifs going on with this film - it may be too expired, the camera may not work , and the pictures might be terrible. So, I'm looking for a cheaper route at least for the first test roll I do. Does anyone out there have any clever ideas or done this recently?
And for kicks, here is a picture of Louie being all sleepy. Don't be fooled, he is a fat jerk.

Cody contacted me about sharing his photography and I'm clad that he did! I have a soft spot for abandoned places, haunted houses, and eerie images. My favorite is definitely the first image of the girl with cloth on her head which is inspired by this painting.

My Favorite Beach
The California Coast may be windy (and sometimes chilly) but that doesn't stop me from going to my favorite beach, Panther. It has everything I could ever want from a beach - low traffic, secluded areas, caves, beautiful cliffs, scenery, and warm sand. I used the film rolls from the fisheye and plastic lens camera from my memorial day weekend toy camera extravaganza.

I really love Anna's dreamy watercolor-like photography. Each picture looks like a painting to me - very soft, quiet, and contemplative.

Wasn't my birthday in May?
Yes. Yes it was. That is how swamped I've been with finding a place to live and moving and friends/family's graduations. I have film from the last month! I used 2 toy cameras over my birthday/memorial weekend, a fisheye and plastic point and shoot. I started a tradition of having 2-4 cameras on hand for my bday so friends can take pictures of whatever they want! I always enjoy what other people snap, and it's fun to guess who took what picture.
Here are toy camera birthday images by friends and me:
It's not my brithday unless there is a llama involved. I have a theory that llamas are basically giant cats.
Frisbee is also a part of the tradition. You can see last years frisbee pics here.
This is my new favorite picture. I mean, look at them! Staring at the BBQ with hungry eyes... and Nick is stuffing his face. BBQ cures hang overs I'm pretty sure.
We went to a barn party on memorial day, the day after my bday party, and listened to an awesome Irish band until late at night. My friend Meghan sang the Proclaimers song 500 miles. It was... I can't even explain how great that was. Thank you friends for being so ridiculous and loving!
Over all I had a super memorial weekend and am feeling good so far about being 25. Now if only I could get back to posting regularly and taking more pictures...

I find Lissy's use of water with her subjects particularly interesting. If you check out her photostream on flickr, you will see many images with water used to create dreamy/eerie feeling. Lissy also has a love affair with stormy weather, which you can see in the first too images. I wonder if she lives in Washington?

Salad
I haven't shared any of my favorite meals on this blog in quite a long time! I really enjoy cooking and experimenting with meals. I'm so busy during the week that I often reuse past grocery lists and reuse the food from that list in a different way so I don't get bored. This salad was a result of one of those lists and the result of my love of fingerling potatoes.
It's a salad that's simple, healthy and hearty.
Recipe:
It's a salad that's simple, healthy and hearty.
Recipe:
- Bake fingerling potatoes at 425 till done (about 25 minutes with olive oil, salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and cider vinegar)
- Hard boils eggs!!!
- Chop up lettuce and tomatoes (I use my favorite - yellow heirloom tomatoes).
- Put all the veggies in a bowl and toss with a little olive oil, salt, pepper, and cider vinegar.
- Add dried cranberries and goat cheese. Sometimes I like to add nuts.
- Slice hard boiled eggs to add on top of salad, and don't forget to add the fingerlings!!

She has a very interesting love affair with the way light falls in a room. I see these pictures and feel that same urge to photograph light. It's a photographer's obsession!
